Welcome to our web site.
This is the official web site for Elaine Hammond who is raising money for cancer care charities.
Elaine is a sufferer of Secondary Breast Cancer. This is a life long condition which she has had to adjust to. She has not been alone in her journey. As well as fantastic support from her family and friends, she has had help from charities such as Cancer Research, Macmillan and the ICT unit in Corby. Last year she arranged a series of walking events across the world and with the help of her friends and family she is proud to have raised £11,600 for various cancer charities.
Recently, another charity – Penny Brohn Cancer Care who provide holistic support, have played a significant role in helping her come to terms with her condition. It is through them that she learned how to take action to help control her cancer, and since being helped by them, her health has improved greatly and she is able to lead a relatively normal life.
To show her appreciation to Penny Brohn, Elaine is planning to climb Mount Kilimanjaro in February next year and is aiming to raise at least £5,000.00. The mountain is 5,895 metres high and will take six days to climb. For Elaine, it will be a huge challenge as she will be experiencing both high and extreme low temperatures and will be camping on hard floors. As she has damaged bones in her neck, back and pelvis, enduring these conditions will be difficult. But she is confident that she can do it!
To help raise funds for Penny Brohn and also to have the opportunity to raise some more funds for Willen Hospice in Milton Keynes, Elaine is arranging a five and ten mile walk around Willen Lake on Saturday 19th September 2015. The walks start at the Milton Keynes Peace Pagoda at 11.00 that morning and are circular. If you would like to be involved just turn up on the day.
In addition a raffle is also being held. The draw date is Monday 16th November and winners will be notified by telephone on that day. Tickets cost £1.00 per strip and can be obtained by using the contact us link.

Finally, Elaine has affiliated herself with some of the Walking for Health Schemes across the country who will be collecting on her behalf. Walking for Health provides a range of free walks across the country, led by trained volunteer health walk leaders. Most of the walks are just an hour long and generally over flat ground covering between 1 and 3 miles. There are a couple of longer walks available for those who are more adventurous.
Elaine hopes that you will become involved in her Willen event or her raffle, or alternatively if you would simply like to sponsor her to climb Mount Kilimanjaro, the link is www.virginmoneygiving.com/worldwalk
